Lines are all around us.
Sometimes they’re loud, but sometimes they exist without us even knowing it. If you look down, you might even be wearing some. Parallel, perpendicular, horizontal, vertical… they run in all directions, creating a visual the eye is drawn to.
I think it’s pretty common for every closet to hold at least one striped garment. Am I right? Stripes are classic. It’s a trend that I believe will never really go out of style. There’s always a way to re-invent the stripe… to put a twist on the timeless straight line. I love how something so simple can make such a bold statement, and when you stop and think about it — or rather — take a look around, lines are everywhere.
I took a walk around my neighborhood the other day and held focus on my surroundings. I was in search of lines of any kind.
In the air, on the ground, on people, in the architecture of buildings… I made my walk into a little scavenger hunt, snapping pics of any linear subject I could find. The thing I loved most about this is how it really made me stop and look. It made me realize that many of the things you wouldn’t expect to be beautiful, really are beautiful. Shadows, street art, buildings… I found a new appreciation for the everyday things I wouldn’t normally spend too much time paying attention to.
I had a lot of fun doing this, and I want to open it up to you all. Below are a few examples of how we’re using #FPSayItWithStripes. It can be a style pic wearing your favorite striped piece, or a picture of any sort of stripe you find out in the world. Contributing to the hashtag on Instagram will help build up a place of inspiration that’s been curated by all of us! You might even have a chance at getting your photo featured on the blog :) To get started, check out some of the pics below!
Have fun!
Awesome snaps :-) It’s really fun to see a whole series of striped patterns in such random things.
Love it!! Stripes are so in – love the black and white.
