During Miami Swim 2013, we went backstage at the Mara Hoffman Show titled “Desert Outlaw Gypsies.” The name couldn’t be more fitting for a collection that told a story portraying exactly that.
Mara finds inspiration from nature, mythology, and fantasy when creating her runway collections and this show didn’t fall short. Her 2013 collection featured a wide variety of show-stopping Aztec prints that created a beautiful vision walking down the runway.
Braiding, lattice detail, and beading all added fine details that made every piece unique, and special attention to styling let every piece reach its full potential: feather tattoos at the backs of the legs; windswept, messy hair decorated with braids, and customized boots by Frye.
I think it’s fair to say that Mara Hoffman might just be one of my favorite designers – her world is perfect.
