Styling 101: Take Me Higher

Post image for Styling 101: Take Me Higher

One of our favorite new trends for spring is all high-waisted everything. Waistlines are rising and they’re creating brand new proportions as they do. To get a better grasp about this exciting trend, we’re bringing you Styling 101, featuring our incredible stylist Amanda. This lovely lady styled three looks for us and is sharing expert tips on how to bring this trend into your life this spring. Enjoy!

The high-waisted trend is definitely one of my favorites this season as it’s such a nice flattering silhouette for all body types.  The idea with this trend is that the tops and bottoms come up a little higher — whether it be denim, shorts, or a cute flirty skirt — and are paired back to shorter tops that hit the top of the waistband, crop tops that show a bit of midriff, or tops that could be tucked in.  The reason I love this trend so much is that it accentuates all your curves and elongates your legs.  Also great for the butt and waist, haha!

As seen in the 1st outfit, we paired a flirty, high-waisted skirt with a bustier that can be tucked in for our Candy girl.  This look is also great paired back to a black leather jacket or oversized denim jacket for the cooler days.

Get the look: Finished In Lace Mini Skirt, Smocked Crop Top.

In outfit 2, the idea with this silhouette is all about using a shorter, boxy top or sweater that hits right at the top of your waistband. This is a great comfy look for weekends at home or when you’re out running errands.

Get the look: Free Love Shrug, Low Rise Relaxed Skinny, Alba Ankle Boot.

In outfit 3, we loved the idea of mixing a print with a graphic tee while still keeping the high-waisted silhouette.  We paired a cropped graphic tee with a leopard printed soft bottom for a bolder look.  Great for the sporty Lou girl!

Get the look: We The Free Go West Crop Top, Twisted Leopard Harem PantLina Lace Up Sandal.

Hooray, this hourglass figure is happy to see the lower waistlines gone for a while. These higher lines are so much more flattering on legs. and make your waist seem small. :)

I love high wasted skirts, they remind me of a ballerina dancer. The harlem leopard pants in the last shot are rad!! You could wear those babies all dressed up for the weekend or even just lounging around the home. Love! <3

The white skirt is different on FP than it is shown here. Online FP store it is embroider but here it’s not. Is it flipped inside out?

My favorite is for sure the middle outfit. I just bought my first pair of boyfriend jeans today, and I can’t believe I didn’t own any before. They look so cute with everything!

I am quite partial to a high waist. It’s good for camouflaging a not so cute waistline. :)

I have a short, boxy torso so I’m just going to skip this trend haha.

In the first outfit, is the Smocked Crop Top long enough to stay tucked into the Finished In Lace Mini Skirt, without constantly having to tuck it back in? :)

Thank you!
