Tunesday: First Aid Kit

My introduction to First Aid Kit actually came here at our home office, when they played a surprise show for us during lunch, and they’ve been winning me over with their sweet harmonies and graceful style ever since.

The Swedish folk duo consists of sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg, who delicately pluck guitar strings and keys while their voices blend to create a woodsy, melodic sound. “The vibe we’re going for is that Polaroid, analog look,” they told Vogue a couple of months ago, “We love the feel of seventies art and photography. Just anything old looking.” That phrase could certainly describe their music as well, which has a bit of a 70s throwback element to it. The beautiful song “Emmylou” is an homage to legendary music couples Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash and June Carter- check out the equally beautiful video for that song, which was shot in Joshua Tree, below – and check out more of their music here.

They’re currently on tour, and will be performing at Coachella ; I’m looking forward to catching them here in Philly in March!
