She wakes up with the sun. The glow of the sun across the desert landscape as it rises and sets is far too beautiful to be missed. She needs to feel the earth beneath her feet…kick off her shoes and ground herself…press her hands into it, allow its energy to transfer into her body. That energy is more tangible now than ever, it travels up from the feet and through the veins until she can’t contain it, she just wants to run, run into the great wide open, and scream at the top of her lungs with joy. The spirit of childhood fills her — carefree, nowhere to go but everywhere, nothing ahead of her but dirt roads.
As the last light of day fades, she turns her eyes to the sky and lets them fall on the first star she sees, making a wish that every day will be just as beautiful as today.
