California Love

California has always felt like home, event though it never has been.

I find a lot of comfort in the explainable sense of familiarity I get when wandering the streets of Venice, just like how the coast line of Orange County feels like faint memories from childhood.

From the moment I first exited LAX when travelling last year, I knew it was either a place I had been before or a place that I belonged. There’s something about California that makes me feel so at ease. Maybe it’s the endless palm trees and dry, hot breeze that speaks to my soul. Or maybe it’s the way the softly muted sunlight shines down upon the endless curves of mountainous desert always visible somewhere in the distance.  Even when I see something new for the very first time, like watching the sun set over Joshua Tree, it still feels like home.

While I’m back here in Australia over looking my photos, I’m contrastingly saddened to leave my beloved California, but content knowing I will soon again return home, in the words of Notorious B.I.G: back-back to Cali-Cali.

In love with California! the way you edited your pictures have something nostalgic and something very californian at the same time! love xx

Growing up in California has been one of the greatest treasures, surfing all summer and bonfires to enjoyt he beach through winter are some of the greatest memories. I’ve never lived outside of Southern California and we are about to move to the East Coast. This place will always be home and I hope to return again, maybe more Northern next time. Next time you’re out here, visit San Clemente, my hometown beach town, otherwise known as “the spanish village by the sea.”

I love this post so much! Amazing pictures. I feel so lucky to get to live in California now! I always knew I would, and I love it!

I love all these shots! This post makes me love California even more!

South bay (socal’s south bay) born and raised! I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful place to grow up. Although I love traveling, every time I fly over downtown, see dodger stadium from the air in front of mountains and the ocean in the distance, I get chills. It always feels so good to come home no matter where I’ve been.

I’m really fortunate to have grown up in southern california. I call the beaches up and down the coast from san clemente to laguna beach home, and I grew up surfing, paddleboarding and running on beachside trails. My school has an ocean view, and i work on PCH at the best local surf shop. California has such a special place in my heart. Free people should definitely think about taking a trip down to San Clemente and Laguna Beach, it has the most magical secluded beaches, good food and the locals are always friendly.

I am a native Cali-girl. Grew up on the SoCal beaches, but have lived my adult life in both NoCal & the Central Valley. Just moved back “home” to SoCal. There is so much beauty throughout. You have captured the vibe of the state so well. You are truly an honorary Cali-girl!

I LOVE Cali too and find so much comfort in it! Your photos are awesome and perfectly embody this state and it’s unique feel.

I love your post! It showed up on my Pinterest. I too have a California soul and you described how I feel about it perfectly. Especially with the Notorious song! I sing it from the time I book my flight to SoCal until it’s time to depart my home state. One day I’m hoping to live there because my heart already does.
