space 15 twenty

Our third We the Free store will open this Friday in an exciting new space on Cahuenga Blvd in LA. More on the We the Free store later, but here is some info about the new space created by our parent company, Urban Outfitters.
A new retail experiment in Hollywood, CA, Space 15 Twenty creates an opportunity for Urban Outfitters to collaborate with creative brands we find inspiring and interesting.
A courtyard leads from each store to an outdoor performance space and adjoining gallery. Both of which encourage designers and artists to become part of a curated environment. Working with neighboring music, film and art establishments, both courtyard and adjoining gallery will present a rotating cast of local musicians and artists.
The Urban Outfitters store will feature one-off installations by a new designer every few months. Alongside the 11,000 square foot Urban Outfitters store, Space 15 Twenty will host a selection of vendors. The revolving brands utilizing these spaces will reflect and compliment Urban Outfitters and present our customers with an overarching view of people and brands which are excited to be aligned with.
Check out the space15twenty for info on the other tenants and the great events the space will host.

a quick make-up how-to

A few days ago, our customer service representatives received this little note:
Dear Free People,
I receive your catalogs in the mail…thank you. I have a question in regards to your November 2008 catalog.
On pages 25 and 35, is it possible for you to tell me what lipstick color/brand they are?
Thank you.

We asked our make-up artist, Deanna, to help us out with this question, and she told us exactly how she made-up the model’s lips! I thought I’d share her answer with you:
Prepare the lip with a little Eucerin ointment- just enough to moisten the lip.
Then press Make Up For Ever Star powder (loose) in iridescent fuschia into lip, concentrating color more on the center of lips, then build to desired intensity.
Most Make Up For Ever products can be purchased at Sephora!

Thanks Deanna!

whoa.

So I’ve been a fan of Julian Vallée‘s artwork for a while now – he is a master of working with cut and paste, and uses lots of really bright colors! When I saw this piece on Booooooom my first reaction was whoa, and then I knew I had to share it with you! I want to live in a world where that’s what it looks like when you spray paint from a can. Check out Julian’s website to see more of his work – total eye candy.

found my animal leashes

A friend of Free People recommended I check out this great company that donates part of their proceeds to the Louis Animal Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to placing animals that have not yet found their humans in loving homes.
Found My Animal sells these beautiful leashes made by New England rope makers, the strong rope being a great alternative to leather. The leashes also feature bronze hardware and brass tags stamped with FOUND, and each is numbered to keep track of the number of animals that have been helped.
Check out their site for more info and pictures of cute doggies!
