spent the last couple of hours listening to lcd soundsystem sound-checking next door. torture, but also pretty cool. tried to sneak onto the tourbus or into the building as they were setting up… and failed. oh well, happy friday!
office style
our senior stylist wore the desert maxi dress with a simple gray sweatshirt and belt today and it looked amazing!
i love how our office coordinator toughened up her chiffon and lace slip with a leather jacket and sneakers!
her sneakers and necklace are pretty rad too :)
and our associate stylist looks simply adorable in a polka dot dress, tights and red shoes. i also love the lone bangle worn high up on her arm!
how to style: the lace mock neck top!
more styling inspiration for you today! we had our stylists demonstrate four ways to wear the lace mock neck top – one of our favorite layering pieces for fall and winter. featuring our lovely web merchandiser as model :)
look one:
the lace mock neck adds a touch of sexiness to a casual look of jeans and a plaid button down. i love how our stylists layered two plaid shirts to get a mix of prints! perfect the look with a pair of rad platforms :)
in this look: lace mock neck top; levi’s 606 painted skinny; trimmed in gingham shirt; ever plaid shirt; wani slouch knee sock; miramar straps platform.
look two:
still want to wear your spring and summer dresses in fall and winter? just layer the lace mock neck underneath and add some tall socks and heels!
in this look: lace mock neck top; aran sheer tall cable sock; ballet platform; egyptian printed bodycon dress; ring coming soon.
look three:
this look was all of our favorites :) pair the lace mock neck with a maxi skirt, tee and biker boots for the ultimate casual cool outfit. isn’t that necklace amazing too?
in this look: lace mock neck top; cp shades plaid maxi skirt; we the free graphic a-line tee; CP Shades Clothing; sport stripe slouch sock; brit boot (no longer avail.); grecian circle ring; metal leaf ring; necklace coming soon.
look four:
the last look is all about the layers – a lace maxi dress over the mock neck top, the striped tee to dress it down a little, a tweed jacket and over-the-knee boots! she looks amazing.
in this look: lace mock neck top; daughters of the revolution lace maxi dress; we the free gathered stripes top; tweed jacket; joe lace up over the knee boot; ring coming soon.

i’m really into our maxi skirts right now… they’re all i want to wear! i love how they allow you to be comfortable but still look put together and stylish. which of these is your favorite?
the cp shades plaid maxi skirt:
or the ruffled layers maxi skirt:
last week most of you, 35%, were digging the aviator jacket style!
model off duty
the lovely jenny lopez off duty in our office this week :) did you know she has a blog?
she is wearing an alexander wang t-shirt, free people pants, and barney’s co-op boots.
signs of fall…
…at the farmers market outside our building today :)
wednes-diy
with today being the first day of fall, these table arrangements i saw on design sponge – using straw flowers and heirloom tomatoes – felt really appropriate as today’s DIY. the colors are gorgeous!
the top two photos are my favorite- i would just leave the flowers and tomatoes like that as table decorations! for instructions on how to make the flower garland, check out the tutorial here.
among the wildflowers
one more really cool fact about the wedding i posted about yesterday? the invitations contained wildflower seeds! the paper can be planted, leaving guests with a patch of wildflowers to serve as a beautiful reminder of the occasion. such an amazing idea.
check out the website where they ordered the invites here.

NY Store Visit
During a trip to New York last week I popped into the 5th av store to check out how the girls that work there are styling themselves with the new collection.
I asked them to pick out their favorite outfit for early Fall and here is what they choose. Don’t they look adorable!
That morning the new skinny high waisted 601 Levis arrived in and they looked great, a flattering high waist that worked well with a tucked in shirt, and great to tuck into boots.
The girls were super sweet and inspirational!
new vintage loves
we have some really cool new additions to our vintage loves collection this week! our vintage buyer took ten pairs of 1970s and 80s round-toe western boots to upstate new york, where she worked with woodstock artisans to transform the boots into these one-of-a-kind works of art. our buyer loved these boots because the round toe makes for a better fit, and she wanted them to have the perfect wear and tear look. to achieve this, she and the artisans she worked with used sandpaper and then carefully hand painted each boot with woodstock artist michael r. so that each pair is truly one of a kind.
as she was driving one day, ali spotted this awesome 1940s chevrolet on the side of the road and decided it would be perfect for an impromptu photoshoot with the boots. the rusty, cracked paint and vintage style of the truck could not have made a better setting for the boots to be shot in.

Turning Leaf
Over here in Philly I felt the chill in the air today, and it felt good. Autumn is my favorite time of year, the freshness: the crisp leaves, the warmth of the colours, and the opportunity to wear cozy clothes. I get very sentimental when I feel the chill biting through my skin. I got to my desk this morning and listened to Owen on my ipod, thoughts of getting lost in a forest and kicking leaves around, finding a log to sit on to drink hot chocolate from a flask came flooding into my imagination. It felt nice…
I think I’m going to stay right here in this mindset all day long.
Ohhhhhhhhhh man, I love autumn!
I’m pretty excited about going to an American pumpkin patch and going apple picking for a day.
I’d love to know if you guys have any fun Fall activities to share as this is my first American Fall :)
