the july catalog video!

our july catalog video might be my favorite one yet…a visual ode to the live music capital of the world, austin, texas! lazy days on front porches strumming the guitar, hanging out backstage with bands before hopping onstage alongside them, walking hand-in-hand through the texas wild… this video definitely brings out my wannabe-70s-groupie side ;)

the catalog was shot by alexandra valenti featuring models ashley smith, anastasia khodkina and jessica mau along with austin band the happen-ins, and the video was shot by our videographer and edited by swell. song is “be yer fool” by the happen-ins, which you can download here!

Love that video and the song was PERFECT!
my only criticism about the catalog, was that the pieces in it were often over $150. A lot of people my age and not much older, cannot afford to buy a $500 pair of sequined pants..ya know?! Otherwise, great photographs, awesome video, and another great job! :)

i agree completely with taylor. the catalogs and clothing are still visually stunning, but i think free people has lost sight of what used to be their target market’s realistic price range. maybe others are somehow keeping up with these prices, but my whole wardrobe used to be free people and now i can’t afford a single item in the catalog.

Prices too high! :( My closet is feeling the consequences.

I agree as well! I’ve always ordered my FP indulgences online since the closest store is a state away, and it’s normally totally worth the wait and price of shipping! But lately because of the prices, I’m not able to. And I’m no poor college kid either. I love the new catalog and video, but this one I’m forced to just dream and attempt to find similar items in local stores at more affordable prices. :(
