April 20-May 20
Travel holds such a potent allure for you now that the sounds of a plane overhead or a train whistle in the distance induce you to start throwing things in a suitcase. A weekend getaway probably won’t sate the craving; instead, enjoy plotting out the details of your next trip. One caveat: Disruptions in your resources house are telling you to turn over a new leaf financially, so plan your adventure with as much money savvy as possible. And consider joining a group excursion. It may be both more affordable and more gratifying.
May 21-June 20
You’re not sure whether you’re coming or going this week, and that’s because the answer is both. A solar eclipse in your sign represents an invigorating new beginning, while Venus’ retrograde turn in Gemini compels you to take one last wistful glance over your shoulder. Do a self-inventory over the course of the next six weeks, and reflect on what “out with the old, in with the new” translates to for you. What (or who) has outlasted its purpose in your life? If you really don’t know, try talking to friends and see if they can help shed any light on the transition you’re in.
June 21-July 22
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” ~Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Whether you belong to a particular organized religion and attend services regularly or you’re a self-proclaimed atheist, planetary activity in your spirituality sector this week serves as a strong reminder to tend to your spiritual life. What that means is completely up to you—nothing could be more personal. How do you commune with spirit? What gives you a powerful sense of soulfulness? Anything from nature to art to volunteer work could be a step on your path to the divine.
July 23-August 22
Your ambition has been in overdrive this past year, and you’ve finally achieved some important goals. But rather than resting on your laurels, you’re deliberating over who—not what—can get you to the next level. Coworkers, contacts, affiliations, organizations and even friends are all up for review. Not that you’re planning on dumping any close friends because they aren’t well connected enough! But with the solar eclipse in your groups sector this week, it’s appropriate to think about everyone you associate with and evaluate how they support your growth.
August 23-September 22
With Venus going retrograde in your career angle, you’ll probably start feeling undervalued at work, if you’re not already feeling that way. It’s natural to question your goals if you’ve been working towards something that you think you want, and it’s proving to be less than you imagined it to be. If your boss seems to take you for granted or you think you’re underpaid, that negative reality is going to clash with your positive expectations and plans now. When you’re reassessing your career trajectory, remember to factor in joy. Loving what you do has a value all its own.
September 23-October 22
A concentration of planetary energy in your transformation zone has inspired you to make significant changes in your life, and you’re filled with hope about the future. But the anticipation may be causing you to look too far down the road, trying to catch glimpses of a reality that hasn’t yet materialized. And yet, strangely enough, your head is also in the past, thanks to retrograde Venus in your beliefs sector. You’re not sure where to place your faith—in the tried and true or in what you’re currently trying to manifest. Or maybe a little bit of both? Try not to worry so much about the known vs. the unknown. If you haven’t read Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now, it might be just what you need to get centered.
October 23-November 21
You’re on the brink of true intimacy, but unconscious psychic blocks and romantic illusions are undermining a relationship breakthrough. Pluto in your communication zone wants to help. Talk about what’s holding you back, and you may be able to transcend it. I have a book of Adrienne Rich’s poetry on my shelf whose title—The Dream of a Common Language—always makes me think of a deep connection that I’m lucky enough to share with someone. We speak in a mutual shorthand, reference the other’s childhood inside jokes as if they were our own and finish each other’s sentences. Our common language is an outward affirmation of a profound understanding. If you want the closeness that feels just out of reach now, find the courage to open up.
November 22-December 21
You’re usually quite admirably forward thinking and optimistic, unfettered by second-guessing and regret. But when amorous Venus starts backpedaling in your relationship angle this week, don’t be surprised if nostalgia for someone from your past casts a cloud over your generally sunny thoughts. The more unsettling part is that a solar eclipse in the same part of your chart gives you the urge to hurtle forward with someone new or to kick things up a notch in your current relationship. Allow yourself to reflect on the past, but do it with the intent of enriching the present. What can you learn from your memories of an ex, and how can you apply that info to your current or future relationship?
December 22-January 19
Sure, Goats can be the ultimate corporate team players when they want to be, but that doesn’t mean your soul doesn’t sing when you’re doing something creative. Though you’re the picture of poise on the outside, a tormented artist may dwell within. Empowering Pluto in your sign collaborates with Mercury and Mars this week, while a solar eclipse rocks the area of your chart that involves honing your craft. Refine an artistic idea and figure out how to make time for it in your schedule. Creativity and discipline are a winning combo now.
January 20-February 18
Quirky Aquarians need healthy outlets for their offbeat energy, or they’re liable to get more than a tad anxious. You’re known to spend a lot of time in your intellect, contemplating generalities like “the greater good” and “humanity.” The antidote lies in the opposite modality—valuing your heart over your head and prioritizing what makes you happy over what you can do to benefit everyone. Your keyword this week is PLAY. Sports, hobbies, arts and crafts, hanging out with kids—any of these may do the trick. Sing at top volume in the car. Dance while vacuuming. Bowl badly. Bottom line: Remember how much fun you can have when you turn your brain off.
February 19-March 20
Toni Morrison (born with a moon in Pisces) just published her tenth novel, Home, and I recently went to hear her read from it. Ms. Morrison shared her thoughts on the title of her latest book, musing that home is an especially resonant concept for Americans, since we all—with the exception of the native population—come from somewhere else. She theorized that a nervousness about belonging underlies our country’s xenophobia. Dramatic forward and backward planetary motion in your home angle this week compels you to examine what that word conjures up for you. When you hear phrases like “there’s no place like home” and “coming home,” what do they bring to mind? Now set about creating that sense of home within and without.
March 21-April 19
Uranus in Aries forms an opportune angle with the solar eclipse in your house of education this week, making it a great time to embark on learning something new—not for your career, but rather, just for you. Give some thought to what scholarly pursuits will help you to grow into yourself. What will make you feel like you’re being true to who you are and becoming an even better version of that person? Maybe you could make a reading list for the coming year or sign up for a class in a subject that you used to enjoy in high school. Feed your mind in a way that fills you with satisfaction.
