Celebrating the creative and inspiring girls of today, The Kids Are Alright reminds us that age doesn’t have to dictate our dreams and passions…
When I found 18-year-old Rachelle Vinberg’s instagram account, her skate skills topped off in cool-girl tomboy style made me do a double-take. Rachelle and her friends have entered, even now dominate a realm that, for the rest of us, seems terribly intimidating. Skateboarding has been a dude thing for as long as forever, and the confidence Rachelle has put forth to be a solid presence in (and out) of the skate park is wildly inspiring. She reminds us that no matter what obstacles stand in your way, do what you love and do it with passion. Get to know more about Rachelle below!
When did you first start skateboarding?
My older cousin skated and when I went on vacation to visit family, he got me into it. Seeing him do tricks made me want to learn myself.
Why do you love it?
It’s something that I can do by myself as well as with friends. It offers a sense of community, too. Oh, and it’s also just really fun, haha.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not skating?
Watching movies or reading.
What’s your spirit animal and why?
Definitely a banana… not an animal, but still. It’s yellow and tastes great with everything.
