I’m really entranced by these pictures from the show for Chanel’s resort fashions. I keep coming back to them! The hairstyles seem to call back to the early 20th century, or at least, they do to me! Every time I look at them I’m reminded of the flappers, or even faintly of the Gibson Girls.
A sweet flapper woman. Via.
Another pretty flapper. Via.
Some Gibson Girls. Via.
The clothes seem kind of inspired by these eras as well – is this just me? Do you guys see it too? What do you think?
I saw this gorgeous set on The Moldy Doily. (She always posts awesome pictures!) Head over there to see many more shots from this show!
Using fiber-optic technology, French company LumiGram has created a cloth that glows! It’s not glow-in-the-dark, rather it actually casts a soft light – each clothing item comes with a battery pack that will keep your clothes glowing for around 12 hours after each charge. Interesting, no? Check out all their styles here.
Meet our friend Brittaney! (And her fiancé Adam!)
Brittaney resides in Bellingham, Washington, and is one of the star item reviewers on our website! She reviews using the nickname mushroommoon, and is a total Free People girl, who loves to create and be outside!
She writes: I appreciate dark, earthy, grungy clothing with a fine feminine touch.
To our delight, Brittaney agreed to do a mini-interview with us and tell us a little more about herself! Read on…
So, what do you do for a living?
I am currently attending Western Washington University for a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Studio Art.
What do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not doing homework, I paint, cycle with my fiance Adam, roll around on the bed with our corgi Morton, obsessively read Marx, and garden. :)
What music do you enjoy?
My favorite bands are Joy Division, New Order, Talking Heads, Neil Young, Can, and Nick Drake!
Who is your style star?
David Byrne and Siouxsie Sioux!
What inspires you?
Working on a project in studio with filthy hands and filthy clothes…
Describe your style in 3 words.
grunge, flowers, earthy
Name 3 wardrobe essentials for summer!
Flip Flops, flowers in my hair, and mismatched, bright accessories!
Some final thoughts to share?
I only shop at the local Food Co-op. I buy organic, grow my own food, and I never eat factory farmed meat. Environmentalism is very important to me.
Yay! Thank you for sharing all this with us Brittaney! It’s been a pleasure!

Thanks again Brittaney!
One of our designers brought the picture below to my attention – it’s so fun to see people out and about wearing FP! It came from a Perez Hilton post about Kate’s new brunette hairdo – but check out her shirt! It’s our Printed Dreamweaver Tank in Purple Sun!
Ryanne, who designed the tank, was really psyched! And what’s extra cute is that she happens to be wearing that very tank, in that color, today! So random!
Here she is being happy and cute below!
Hooray! It’s Thursday, and it’s time for our Thursday Poll!
Last week we took a look at some of the many ways to wear our Riding Hood Convertible Tee, and decisively chose the racerback tank styling as our favorite! It got 253 votes!
This week I want to ask you about some of our summer dresses and see which ones you guys really like!
Check out the Night Out Dress, shown here in Butter.
Now have a look at our One Shoulder Banded Bottom Dress in Purple.
Next is our Best Night Out Dress in Hot Coral.
Below is Sylvie’s Ruffled Dress in Plum Pie.
Finally, have a look at the Striped Halter Dress in Peach/Berry.
Well, now you’ve seen the dresses, which one do you like the most?
These pieces by Ulrik Martin Larsen are so carefully made and interesting! They look really intricate and delicate and yet the chains give a lot of them a very tough feel! They’re so inspiring – people have been doing such great things with chains lately! I also really, really like the one in the second picture down because of those little wood fingers along the edges! What do you guys think?
Via Garbage Dress.
The designs on these (very) old calling cards are gorgeous! I love the thought of a time when people would come see you, and leave cards to say they came by if you weren’t there, or to invite you to parties, or better yet, make romantic advances! Maybe sometime, somehow, calling cards will come back…
Anyhow, these beauties came from Dull Tool Dim Bulb – check it out for a few more.
