Video: How To Create Mermaid Waves

This week we’re sharing some of the blog’s greatest hits! These are some of our most loved posts by you, our amazing readers.

We have fallen head over heels in love with Mermaid Waves lately. Loose soft curls that fall elegantly down your back, so much so that the other day we took a trip to The Parlour Salon right here in Philly to learn how to create the perfect head of Mermaid Waves.

Why we love this look? It brings to mind the perfect fairytale hair, it looks lovely for an occasion and then when the curls start to fall out more and become a little messy the day after, it still looks great. Make sure to watch through the end of the video to learn how to style this on the 2nd day, too! This is the perfect bohemian hairstyle to go with any look. Watch the video below to see exactly how it’s done!

  1. i wish i could do that… but my hair stuff is limited to shampoo, clarifier, and hairspray. i don’t even bother straightening. but maybe in the future, you never know.

  2. Instructions hidden behind video progress bar on the bottom. Can you send me the direction WORDS please? It is so beautiful! THANK YOU!

  3. Creating this look is very easy! It’s just a bit time consuming when you have very thick hair.
I use a conair curling wand.
It looked very lovely when I had dipdyed hair as well.

  4. this is basically the perfect video for me. Are you kidding me? I’ve got my handmade mermaid costume all ready, and it’s like this link was looking for me. Thanks so much!

  5. Would you mind giving the exact products used in this video. Ive tried so many different things and they all seem to leave my hair really sticky and hard if that makes sense. Much appreciated, Kens.

  6. Just use a Remington tapered curling wand that’s 1 1/2-3/4 it’s cheap and works very well

  7. I do this with my hair when I go out at night. It takes about 10 minutes max :) Thank the lord for clipless curling wands.
