a fellow fp girl told me about illustrator daniel egneus and in looking through the work on his website i found myself lost in the realm where fantasy and reality meet. egneus combines dark, edgy imagery with pops of watercolor and careful and realistic detail with sketchy lines to create images that can only exist in your wildest dreams… but leave you wishing they were real.

thursday poll – edition 88
happy april 1st! let’s start out the day and the month with a thursday poll, shall we? now that it’s getting warm out i’m taking out all my spring clothes and one thing i find i always need a new version of is a staple tank top that goes with almost anything. i could see myself living in any one of these this summer…which do you like best?
the sparkle heart tank:
the ruffleback cami:
the horizon tank:
or the sweet thing tank:
the results for last week’s poll were incredibly close…last i checked the leather hip belt beat out the trojan horse waist belt by just 6 votes!
in bloom
the sun is out, the air is warm and the trees outside are blossoming with pretty pink flowers that smile at the sky…
if you’d like to download the last image, head on over to our flickr page. i have it set as my background and it is making me very happy.
pocket sized puppy
look at that face! quite possibly the smallest dog ever, this yorkie belongs to a girl here at the navy yard. i just want to put it in my pocket and take it home!
explosive art
take a good look at this artwork…what do you think it is?
what you are seeing is the work of visual artist rosemarie fiore, who creates collage-like images by exploding and containing live fireworks to get these wild bursts of saturated color.
mural mural on the wall
this might be one of the coolest things i’ve ever seen.
inspired by a painting they found on ebay and paint by numbers artwork, scott and cheryl white turned their blank wall into mural art. to do this they made a color transparency of the painting, and using a projector, traced the image onto the wall with pencil. they then created a chart of all the colors and assigned them numbers, and got to work painting! it took them eight months to complete this masterpiece but imagine how much fun you’d have doing it! read more to see some awesome photos of the white’s wall before and after.
wednes-diy
i was looking around online last week for instructions on tie-dying easter eggs- as in this kind of tie-dye:
instead i found this. i’ve never seen this before… apparently silk ties have another purpose- they can be used to create amazingly beautiful easter eggs! i found a great tutorial on our best bites that walks you through the process.
