this week i want to ask about some of our adorable printed bralettes! we’ve got some great new ones in romantic, pretty prints just in time for valentine’s day. and they look super cute peeking out from under tank tops and sheer tees! so which one do you love most?
good morning! i have a special treat for you today – one of our graphic designers sent me these sweet designs that you are free to download as wallpaper for your computer, or whatever else you may want to use them for…just click on the images to go to our flickr page and download the large size!
we have some new artwork up in gallery 543 here at the navy yard! now through march the gallery will feature the work of three local artists: nicole barrick, jason turner and caroline wilson.
caroline wilson works with pen, ink, gouache and found objects, toying with the juxtaposition of various themes and images. She says she began illustrating as a means to sanity, and a way to exorcize the imagery that haunts her at night.
nicole barrick uses a variety of media, including hair weaving and clothing. she says, “i strive to make connections between seemingly unrelated objects and images in order to make sense of this world and at the same time create imaginary places. the best way to describe my process is as a meditation on or channeling of an enigmatic energy that brings forth images and symbols filtered through my own perception and experience.”
jason turner works with themes of nature, vulnerability and cultural myth, using simple line and repetition to construct a world of calm and subtle narrative.
The artists reception will take place at gallery 543 tomorrow, February 1st, from 5-6:30pm.

the sundance film festival started yesterday in park city utah and runs through january 31st. among the films that will be screened are “howl,” about the life of beat icon allen ginsberg and the events leading up to the writing of his famous poem, and “the runaways,” about joan jett, cherie currie and their band’s rise to fame. but perhaps the most anticipated screening will be “exit through the gift shop,” a documentary film by the mysterious street artist banksy. check out the trailer:
