Last month, we opened our second New York City store, at 1319 3rd Avenue!
We have been so excited about it!
Everyone who had a part in helping open up this store did such a fantastic job- the store is incredible! Just have a look at these photos for proof! I especially am in love with the cash-register counter…
If you find yourself in NYC, please, come visit us!
Don’t forget about our FP Style Event, which is going on right now!
We have been collecting your pictures of you and your friends wearing Free People and putting them in a set on our Flickr account! We love seeing how you wear your Free People!
Below, find just a few of the pictures that FP girls have sent us so far! To see the whole set, check out our Flickr account! And don’t forget to send us pictures of you in your Free People, to email@example.com!
As many of you know, our latest catalog came out this week, and so for our weekly poll I was curious about what you all think of our last few catalogs.
Below, to remind you which is which, are the front covers of our last three catalogs.
Now right off the bat, I want to point out that having Al Franken’s video on here is not in any way an endorsement or political statement or anything. I think he is running for Congress, but I couldn’t even tell you which side he’s on. The reason Al Franken makes it on the blog today is because in this video, which you can find below, he draws a near-perfect map of the USA from memory, in about 3 minutes. I had to share it with you!
This seriously blows my mind! Especially because after I watched this video I tried myself, and drew the USA from memory as best I could. Let me tell you that it took me a LOT more than 3 minutes! I had mistakes in mine too, for example my placement of Arkansas. (Whoops!) Below the video, you can find my attempt at drawing the map, which was a mess and ended up needing a second piece of paper cause I drew the eastern half of the country too big… :)
Prepare for September 19th and Park(ing) Day, and experience how great our cities might be if they were designed for people rather than cars. Park(ing) Day participants get into some guerrilla gardening and take over public parking spaces, turning them into their own customized little corners of nature and relaxation.

This week for our poll, we have a question for you all in regards to a couple of our current trends.
One trend that we are currently featuring in our stores is called “Wild at Heart.” The inspiration for this trend is the outdoors, the beauty of nature, and ourselves within it. Sweaters, cable knits, lots of texture in general, women’s thermals, and a natural color palette dominate this trend. You can also spot plenty of plaid and a long and lean look to this trend.
Here are a couple of items from this trend, to help give an idea of what it is about!
Shown here is the Wildlife Burnout Crew in black.
Another trend that you can currently find permeating our stores right now is called “Girls in Paris.” The girl in Paris is more fashion-forward, and though her silhouettes are similar to those in Wild at Heart, they are edgier and a little flirtier too! This trend is dominated by a drapey, girly feel, with hints of stripes, art deco-type prints, and of course plenty of black!
A couple of examples follow below…
Hey Free People girls!
Show us your style! How do you wear your Free People? Head to toe? Flashes of flair?
We noticed that people would often upload pictures of themselves wearing
their Free People to our Facebook account, and we loved it! That got us thinking… and curious to see more!
Send us your pictures of you and your friends in your Free People
clothing, and we’ll put them all on our Flickr account!
Email your name, age, and current town with your pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will upload them!
If you can, tell us which FP items you are wearing too!
Eventually, we’ll pick out some of our favorite styles and feature them on
To get started, we put up a few pictures of our own employees rocking their
Free People here at the home office! You can check out our Flickr folder for
this event here!
