i still love you new york
30th street station
last thursday jemma and i took a trip to NYC for the day to visit a couple of our free people stores! it could not have been a more beautiful day to walk around the city and we had a blast meeting the girls who work in our stores – they are so sweet. it has been quite a while since i’ve been in new york and i forgot how much i love it.
here’s a little run down of what we saw!
the 5th avenue store manager gave us a run thru of their store which was really exciting and interesting. the theme for the front area is capetown, currently featuring cooler colors and lots of blues. we asked about their customers and learned they see a lot of gingers mixed with lou! the geo shapeless dress is the perfect city girl’s dress that she can wear on its own or cover up with the centered pullover and a fedora for a cool night.
we loved this inspiration wall in the back room!
the adorable girls of our fifth ave and soho stores… our fp girls always have the best style :)
she also loves the arrowhead wedges – she told us taylor swift came in and tried them on too. also it’s a little hard to see but she’s got on the sequin slip under the chiffon one – such a cute idea!
and of course we couldn’t resist trying on a few things…jemma snapped some pics in the dressing room of her favorite items:
she loved the chiffon slip, the horse waist belt and the trench. i loved the centered pullover, straw fedora and the super tank mini dress! all in all it was a great day and i can’t wait to go back again :)

or the patchwork triangle bikini:
vote on!
the winner of our tribal jewelry poll was the porto santo necklace :)
a tour of our new home
as you may know, our home offices are located in philadelphia’s navy yard, an old navy ship yard that is home to some really cool, old warehouse buildings that urban outfitters renovated to house our offices. building 15 has been our home for the last few years but next month we will be moving to the neighboring building 25, which is bigger – and has two floors as opposed to one!
on friday we were treated to a special tour of the new building (it is still under construction) and i snapped some photos to share with you all! i think we are all very excited for the move, especially after seeing the amazing new space- and the fact that it is right on the water makes me very happy :)
read on for more photos of our new home and to see the special treat waiting for us at the end…
welcome back mr. softee!
mr. softee is back after a long, cold winter…
hmmm… what is he up to?
there is no such thing as too much ice cream :)
happy friday!
super adoption day in philly!
tomorrow is super adoption day at the piazza at schmidts! this will be the largest adoption event in philadelphia history, plus there will be live music, food and drinks, special guests, shopping, vendors, crafters and more. the event is organized by philly no kill, an amazing organization with the goal of making philadelphia a city where all healthy and treatable animals are saved. there are so many animals in need of homes so stop by tomorrow between 10 and 4 and you may walk away with a new best friend :)

this is such an awesome idea – one of our designers is heading to the sled island music and film festival in calgary, which takes place june 30 – july 3. to prepare for her trip she is compiling all sorts of information in a little composition book that she brought over to show us the other day – it’s amazing! she cut out and pasted images and hand wrote information about the festival lineup, bars, restaurants and shopping in calgary – even interviews with calgary designers that she has printed out!
i think it’s such a creative way to prepare for and then document a trip – in fact it has inspired us to do something similar for bonnaroo :) we’ll take a closer look at the contents of her journal when the festival approaches, but for now i wanted to share the idea because i thought it was so cool. and all you need is a journal, scissors and glue sticks!
photos from the brooklyn show!
did any of you attend marit larsen’s performance at our brooklyn store on friday? from what i hear it was a great event, and our music coordinator sent along these awesome photos!
the storefront and the cute little backyard, decorated to the nines!
