one of our planners (my sister!) wearing head-to-toe free people yesterday! bob was happy to pose along with her :)
this is an older free people belt but i LOVE it – i borrow it from her all the time :) it says “so it goes” on the back.
boots coming soon!
she’s wearing the tuxedo shirt dress over the easy corset slip. love it!
and here is the adorable chau, wearing another look i love – comfy maxi dress with a warm blanket scarf and hat!
she’s wearing our lennon topper hat, rally ankle boots, and fp beach maxi (that she designed!) which should be online soon!
poor little grizzly bear…silly thing broke her kneecap and now she’s sporting this insanely cute cast:
good to see she’s still her same old happy self :)
she looks like a real life version of this card my co-workers gave me when i broke my ankle!
get well soon grizzly bear we love you!!!
i’ve got cabin fever! i love all of these outfits from our lodge lookbook and they’re making me want to load up on layers and spend a weekend at a lodge with a fireplace and lots of hot chocolate. which of these looks do you guys like best?

the winner of last week’s party shoe poll was the velvet crusher peeptoe with 32%.
for today’s DIY i want to show you guys how to make snowflake panels like the ones in our new store displays! it’s actually really not as difficult as it looks, it just requires a lot of patience and good cutting skills :)
image via design sponge.
these panels immediately reminded me of a DIY i saw a while ago on design sponge – the only difference being the material. our team actually made ours out of paper first, and then had them laser cut out of felt.
what you need: paper or felt or whatever material you want to use (this is a great way to re-use old scrap paper or junk mail!), scissors, and glue or tape!
start by making as many paper snowflakes as you desire, in varying sizes, patterns and shapes – because no two snowflakes are alike ;) if you’ve never made a paper snowflake before, check out this tutorial.
once you have a bunch of snowflakes, start gluing them together where they overlap, alternating shapes and sizes as you please.
i’m going to keep adding to mine over the next few weeks!
for best results, hang your panel in front of a window and enjoy the patterns the sun leaves on the floor :)
the dramatic landscape of iceland was the perfect backdrop for the final chapter of our november catalog, wrap me in a sweater. rocky cliffs, open fields, wild horses, snow-capped glaciers, icy blue water that blends into the sky and a dreamy mist settling over it all…
…these photos taken by our producer don’t even look real.
approaching iceland.
i love this photo of our creative director.
in the spirit of today being wednes-DIY, i wanted to share some photos that our facebook fans have uploaded recently, showing how they’ve turned their fp bags into shirts!
very creative, ladies! i might have to try this as well…
so now that we’re finished with the unbearable lightness of being, it’s time to pick our next book for the fp book club. i would love to hear your suggestions! what’s the last great book you read? what’s the most inspiring book you’ve read? what’s your all-time favorite? leave suggestions below!
as mentioned, chapter six of our november book was shot by eric kvatek. whenever i find out who is shooting our catalogs i immediately look up their websites to check out their work, because our team always picks such amazing photographers to work with. well this one is no different- here’s some of his photography that i love.
eric also shot our october 2008 catalog which featured we the free and is one of my personal favorites:
i think he does an amazing job integrating the models and clothing and the surrounding landscape in his work.
here he is with model jessica mau in iceland during the shoot (via his blog):
i love these off duty shots he took of jessica mau and julia hafstrom:

It’s that time again when the stores start to become filled with sexy little numbers to begin your party season. I was out shopping in Philly this weekend and was overwhelmed by how many choices I had.
So I went home and started to arrange my thoughts on how I want my party look to be.
The idea I have in mind is a tight body con worn with heels, red lipstick and a signature necklace. I have to make this look my own by teaming it with a leather jacket and lace shawl. To finish off this look I MUST own OPI’S ‘mad as a hatter’ nail colour – it’s part of a range based on Alice in Wonderland and I need it on my finger tips everyday during holiday season!!!
So here’s my Party look number 1… I’m sure there’s going to be many more to follow!
chapter five: grab a bag
“a variety to take on all life’s adventures. soft leathers and great details, in an assortment of lengths. These lovely items won’t add extra baggage but instead complete your perfect look.”
this section features some of our amazing bags for the season, on their own and worn by model zippora seven! she was shot here at our office in philly by our photographer anthony nocella- i ran into them shooting on my way back from getting coffee one day and was a little star struck by zippora!
i love the creedence messenger – its so unique and could fit everything you’d need for a weekend getaway. i would wear it with the lace maxi and striped tee and beanie for a look that’s a little bit grunge. i also love the idea of wearing a rugged brown satchel with some of our pretty holiday items to toughen them up!
items pictured: directions in lace maxi skirt, we the free striped burnout long sleeve, hunting for fairisle tall sock, isara ring, oversized pom beanie, creedence messenger, victorian loves lace dress, victoria rose blouse, stag satchel.
chapter six: wrap me in a sweater
“icelandic air was perfect for cuddling up in cozy textures and soft yarns. wrap up in a sweater and let the cold air breeze sweep past you. these glorious sweaters will add comfort to your winter days.”
the final chapter of the november book was shot by photographer eric kvatek in iceland! when i first saw the photos i was speechless. models julia hafstrom and jessica mau are stunning on their own but when combined with the dramatic icelandic landscape it really was taken to another level. i love the idea of styling the sweaters with lots of layered intimates items – over top of slips or the lacey skort, with tights and socks.
items pictured: kristal’s ombre hat, fuzzy oversized pullover, lacey layering skort, peruvian pattern legwarmer, cross my heart cardigan, vintage charm slip, dotted mesh layering top, lace inset flare.
stay tuned for more behind the scenes from iceland!
is it just me or are there a ton of birthdays this time of year? i wasn’t the only one celebrating today… here are some pics from a party for one of visual display team members – they have a slight advantage when it comes to decorating ;)
and that’s my sweet card jemma made and the cute little plant that was waiting on my desk for me this morning :)
thank you for all the birthday wishes xoxo.
