Saturday DO

DO: five sun salutations each day, for 30 days.

Over the holiday, I stayed around Philadelphia while a lot of my friends went out of town. With a lot of time to myself, I did a lot of internet surfing during which I came across a blog (now I don’t remember which) where the blogger was talking about their self challenge to do five sun salutations a day, for 30 days. I decided to wipe myself of my previous “I can’t workout at home” mentality, and commit to the same challenge.

I went upstairs to my bedroom, rolled out my yoga mat, and intending to do five sun salutations, ended up doing an entire yoga routine – for an hour! I’ve decided that there is no reason to not do yoga at home. It’s actually even better in some ways. You can move at your own pace, and really hold a pose that feels good to you instead of moving at the teacher’s pace.

Last week I mentioned how I want this New Year to be all about balance. I’ve continued to do my five sun salutations a day in efforts to keep this thought in the front of my mind. On some days I’m in the mood to do more, and on some I do just the salutations. Either way, I get a moment of calmness where I’m completely in tune with my own body. I think this is important for my goal since the first step to getting balance, is knowing what is going on with yourself. I feel like I’m getting stronger, more flexible, and most importantly, a more balanced mentality.

Try it out! Do five sun salutations for thirty days straight.

Here is part two of store style featuring our lovely New York girls!

“And love won’t play any games with you

The world won’t wait and I watched you shake
But honey, I don’t blame you
Hell, I still love you, New York”

Store Style: NY & LA

We can’t wait for our catalog to drop next week! In anticipation of the January book and its coast to coast theme, I thought it would be fun to check out the style of our California and New York store girls – they all have such amazing style, and you can definitely see the difference in the style of the opposite coasts. I love them both!

“Made up my mind to make a new start, Going To California with an aching in my heart.
Someone told me there’s a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane, never let them tell you that they’re all the same.
The sea was red and the sky was grey, wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.
The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake
as the children of the sun began to awake.”

– Led Zeppelin

The reverse it kachow thermal screams Cali style – and it goes with everything! Worn here, from left to right, with: the sequin cami, destroyed denim flares and marrakesh floppy hat; denim cutoffs and zigzag turban; pieced lace maxi and headband; zig zag lurex pant and headpiece; extreme flares and hat.

Office Style

Winter has most definitely hit here in Philadelphia. We’re snuggling up in sweaters, jackets, and lush vests here at the office. I noticed a lot of café au lait hues mixed in amongst the stripes and fun patterns that we’re falling for.

Thursday Poll: Blue Hues

The color blue sometimes gets a bad rap. It can be associated with feelings of sadness. Perhaps the cold winter has you “feeling blue.” Well, there’s nothing depressing about our Blue Hues collection on the website. Some of the hottest FP pieces fall into the category, and contrary to the color’s reputation, they’re quite fun and uplifting to wear. This is one cool color for apparel. Which is your favorite piece in the pretty hue?

1 Day, 2 Parties

We had two reasons to celebrate today! First we had a birthday breakfast celebration for our amazing office coordinator, and then we had a baby shower at lunch for our email marketing manager who is expecting very soon. You ladies both rock!!

She loves scooters and scooter rallies, so one of our co-workers brought in this adorable Barbie scooter for her! I’m so jealous I never had one of these!

A big congrats to the mom-to-be :) xo

January Catalog Sneak Peek: NY vs. LA

We love LA… beaches, surfing, sunshine, rollerskating, tacos, convertibles, palm trees, Mel’s diner, the LACMA, Hollywood and more. We love NYC… cab rides, late nights, hot dogs, the subway, the MET, Times Square, the list goes on.  Two iconic cities on opposite coasts that couldn’t be more different, but we love them just the same. Our January catalog is an homage to these two great cities and their individual style, featuring Jessica Hart shot by Chrissy Piper in Los Angeles and Karlie Kloss shot by Guy Aroch in New York City.

So, of course, we have to ask…

Are you a New York City girl or an L.A. woman?

Style File: Design Assistant – Ginger

This week’s style file is no wuss. She’s decorated with tats, and sports a dark bob which give a toughness to any look she wears. The actual outfits she pulls together tend to lean on the girly side, creating a nice balance with the permanent edgyness. She loves tights and cute flared mini’s. She peppers in ditzy prints, lace, and feminine detailing. And then there are the shoes, she has a collection of stunners – your ordinary black ankle boot wedges, but with badass elements. Overall, she has a great mix of tough and sweet. Check out her week in style:
