Four Hacks for Perfect Summer Skin

Because all we want is fresh, healthy skin — without much effort.

It’s almost mid-summer, which means your body has probably been exposed to a lot of sweat and sunscreen — all of which can build up and create a not-so-flattering residue on your skin. But it’s nothing a good cleansing and toning routine can’t fix. Even if you only have ten minutes, this four-step ritual will get rid of the dullness — so you can feel fresh and glowing again — and stay protected for the days ahead.

Step 1: Exfoliate (Gently!)

No time for a lengthy dry brush? No problem. This grainy “mud” lifts dead skin with a combination of black salt, sugar (a natural humectant that hydrates as it clears out pores), clay and detoxifying activated charcoal. Rub it all over in the shower, working your way up from your feet with small buffing motions.

Step 2: Moisturize

Who wants to bother with a thick, heavy moisturizer when it’s a thousand degrees outside? Now’s the time for a light but nourishing oil you can quickly sweep on. Pat any excess from your hands on your cuticles, the tips of your hair and any other dry patches.

Step 3: Protect

Ok, now that your skin is looking dewy and lush, keep it that way. The sun can zap your radiance so make sure you cover up well. This high-level sunscreen won’t build up on skin or turn cakey, and you can use it on your face and body to save a step.

Step 4: Recover

Even if you’re super diligent about sunscreen, your skin still gets hot from baking outside. That heat can make your skin red and parched, which is why you need a nice, cooling lotion — this one is packed with healing aloe, calming lavender, and refreshing rosemary oil. Tip: store in the fridge to maximize the chilling sensation.

I’m actually looking for a new exfoliator! I don’t like my current one much, which has caused me to be lazy with exfoliating. I need to change!
