hi linda! i responded to your email- i don’t know of any application process, but i know you don’t need to be based in philly. our team often hires photographers whose work they are familiar with and think would be a good match with the catalog’s style and atmosphere.

    Thanks, Cait!

Hello, I sent a question through the contact section but not sure if it went through. Just wondering…how would photographers go about applying to shoot for Free People? Also, would they have to be based in Philly?

when we posted photos of our new costa mesa, california, store the other day, you may have noticed these beautiful fabric-covered vases sitting on some of the shelves. i loved them so i did a little digging to find out how are display team made them…

our team used large aluminum vases cast in india – but you can pick up some large inexpensive flower pots at your local gardening shop.

next you need some pretty fabric. our team used antique turbans, bridal blouses and quilts they picked up over in india. check out vintage stores and flea markets for pretty vintage fabrics that work just as well :)

now all you need is some mod podge, which you can order online or get from an arts & crafts store. use the mod podge to coat the fabric so it stays on the vases.  use the fabric however you want- i think it would look cool if you cut different fabrics into strips and collaged them onto the vase for a quilted effect!

first i cut the straps off, then i sew the ends so it doesn’t fray. Then i sew a zipper on the opening, tie the strap into a bow, and sew it on to the bag. Finally i put a pillow inside and it makes a beautiful pillow case!

I sewed a zipper into mine, making it the PERFECT travel bag

  • grocery bag & purse & a “suitcase” depending on my travels.
