I’ve always thought that our Senior Graphic Designer has amazing style, but for some reason I was under the impression that she was one of those who aren’t a big fan of having their photo taken. I’ve since discovered that I was wrong, and so to make up for lack of showcasing this woman’s amazing style, I decided to feature her as this week’s Style File.
One great aspect to our Graphic Designer’s fashion is her keen eye for texture and pattern. She understands pieces, and how to show off their interesting features. For example, she’ll layer a fun color underneath to show off a top layer’s loose knit, or she’ll call attention to a bold, retro-inspired pattern by stacking it up with basics. Either way, she’s great at creating a balance so that her looks never look like too much.
I’m also a HUGE fan of this woman’s ring collection. She has a great assortment of chunky knuckle decoration full of cute animals and edgy cuts. She’s not afraid to pile on the rings, and will often pair them back to a sweet choker.
Equally as impressive, is her awesome shoe collection. She’s a big heel girl, and her shoes always have attitude. The good sturdy heel gives her look a nicely confident spin.
Overall, her wardrobe of fun pieces is gutsy and playful. It never gets boring seeing what this girl is going to wear to the office.
The Polka Dot Blouse pops perfectly with her bright red booties
Get the look with a large gauge knit like this and the a fun colored buttondown like our Sheer Buttondown Tunic in Mint Julep.
Here she updates the poncho by wearing it in a totally modern way layered over a basic button up and shorts.
Try a great choker with a collared shirt to get the look. The Tribal Triangle Collar is a great option to do it with at an easy price .
We had a baby shower here at work this week, and I made these crostini as a contribution to the array of sweet treats we had to celebrate. Normally, when I make them at home, they’re delicious. This time around I made them the night before, and then stuck them in the fridge at work until we surprised the mom to be. Read More
DO: five sun salutations each day, for 30 days.
Over the holiday, I stayed around Philadelphia while a lot of my friends went out of town. With a lot of time to myself, I did a lot of internet surfing during which I came across a blog (now I don’t remember which) where the blogger was talking about their self challenge to do five sun salutations a day, for 30 days. I decided to wipe myself of my previous “I can’t workout at home” mentality, and commit to the same challenge.
I went upstairs to my bedroom, rolled out my yoga mat, and intending to do five sun salutations, ended up doing an entire yoga routine – for an hour! I’ve decided that there is no reason to not do yoga at home. It’s actually even better in some ways. You can move at your own pace, and really hold a pose that feels good to you instead of moving at the teacher’s pace.
Last week I mentioned how I want this New Year to be all about balance. I’ve continued to do my five sun salutations a day in efforts to keep this thought in the front of my mind. On some days I’m in the mood to do more, and on some I do just the salutations. Either way, I get a moment of calmness where I’m completely in tune with my own body. I think this is important for my goal since the first step to getting balance, is knowing what is going on with yourself. I feel like I’m getting stronger, more flexible, and most importantly, a more balanced mentality.
Try it out! Do five sun salutations for thirty days straight.

Winter has most definitely hit here in Philadelphia. We’re snuggling up in sweaters, jackets, and lush vests here at the office. I noticed a lot of café au lait hues mixed in amongst the stripes and fun patterns that we’re falling for.
Decked out in FP wearing the Fairisle Pullover (similar one here) and Brit Boot
She made this necklace! Sweet, right? I love how it plays together with the other textures of her outfit.
The color blue sometimes gets a bad rap. It can be associated with feelings of sadness. Perhaps the cold winter has you “feeling blue.” Well, there’s nothing depressing about our Blue Hues collection on the website. Some of the hottest FP pieces fall into the category, and contrary to the color’s reputation, they’re quite fun and uplifting to wear. This is one cool color for apparel. Which is your favorite piece in the pretty hue?

This week’s style file is no wuss. She’s decorated with tats, and sports a dark bob which give a toughness to any look she wears. The actual outfits she pulls together tend to lean on the girly side, creating a nice balance with the permanent edgyness. She loves tights and cute flared mini’s. She peppers in ditzy prints, lace, and feminine detailing. And then there are the shoes, she has a collection of stunners – your ordinary black ankle boot wedges, but with badass elements. Overall, she has a great mix of tough and sweet. Check out her week in style:

It’s been really slow around the office this past week. A lot of employees are off on vacation, surely enjoying a nice local or some quality time with friends and family. Those of us who stuck around for the holidays are feeling a bit wacky from all the emptiness. Headphones are on, and there’s a muted quietness everywhere. Everything just seems a bit off and quirky.

There are still a few pairs of the Gavin Ankle Strap Platforms left if you hurry!
The Free People girl is not one to shy away from a statement. She’s bold, she takes up a lot of room, and she’s not afraid of color. She likes to push the limits, and that’s exactly why we have the most amazing collection of printed voluminous pants on the site right now. These pieces flip the rules on their head, and draw attention to the bottom half of an outfit. A few, with their flower child bohemian vibe, live in the Nouveau Boho trend while others are funky and psychedelic. We’re loving the can’t-miss-it look.
