Check out these amazing photos from our Houston Galleria store girls, showcasing the FP Spun line! The photos were taken by Houston Galleria’s senior store manager of the assistant manager, and they did such a beautiful job! The photos really draw attention to the delicate details of the Spun pieces and the model looks gorgeous :)

From our Catalog Team: Shooting in NYC

Our catalog team sent along some more photos to give you guys a little peek at what they’ve been up to! Enjoy :)

We arrived in New York City on the 19th and had a nice bonding dinner to start the shoot off right at Frankie’s on the Lower East Side. We stayed at The Bowery – the rooms are beautiful and some have lovely private terraces. We got up early the next morning and headed to Splashlight Studios where we were shooting with one of our favorite photographers, Guy Aroch, and model Julia Stegner. She is very beautiful and even more so behind the lens! I love the 60’s Marianne Faithfull vibe she brings to the table and felt really inspired by it. During the shoot we listened to Carly Simon and munched on Sushi. It was a fun shoot and the perfect time to be in NYC – while there was a stifling heat wave in Philly, New York had a cool breeze circulating the summer air. It was a great shoot, we are all very proud of it and can’t wait for everyone to see!

i love her cute, off-duty style!

Style File: Edition 3

Quirky, creative, lovable, giggly, cool…these are all words to describe the assistant designer for Meadow here at Free People who is also this week’s Style File Girl. And boy does this girl have style. I envy how creatively cool she looks each day, and it never appears to take her much effort.  She alters pieces in unique ways, thrifts like it’s her job (okay, it partly is), and throws in unexpected extraneous items to pull an outfit together. It’s tough to explain why exactly it all works, so I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves. Check out what she wore this week…

thursday

Even though her look changes from day to day she certainly has her favorite accessories. I’m a big fan of the watch she always wears.

And what about those tattoos?

Her favorite is the acorn (far left) inspired by her childhood self who made her grandmother watch Peter Pan twice a day, every day. The acorn is from the version with real people in which Wendy asks Peter for a kiss, but since he’s just a boy, he doesn’t know what that is and gives her an acorn. Later on in the movie she’s struck down by an arrow, but you later come to find out the arrow pierced the acorn instead. It saved her life.

The creative spirit that she uses in her appearance is just as apparent in her job as the assistant designer on team Meadow. She pumps out awesome piece after awesome piece, often inspired by vintage clothing that she picks apart, blogs, and her coworkers. This Wednesday she was working on updating sketches she presented for setup to meet the buyers’ and head designers’ requests. She now has to show the garments in flat form along with fabric swatches, body, and any artwork to be used in the piece. At the end of it all, she puts it together into a nice presentation so buyers can decide exactly what they’ll buy and how much.

The coolness doesn’t stop there. Her work space and home are just as one-of-a-kind as the outfits she wears and the creativity she brings to her job. I mean, who has a pregnant Barbie to accompany them at their desk every day? Safe to say, the space she inhabits is never boring.

And of course, I wouldn’t leave you all without a fun questionnaire. Time to let the woman speak for herself

Office Style: It’s HOT

It is hot as hell here in Philadelphia today – advisory warning and all. It’s the kind of heat that makes you not even want to get dressed, but, of course, that’s not socially acceptable. One has to put something on to go to work, and these ladies (and gentleman) did quite a good job of it today. Today’s office style is all about how we’re battling the heat – crop tops, billowy fabrics, light colors, and shade. How are you staying cool?

Thursday Poll: Vintages Loves Graphic Tees & Tanks

I’ve been on the hunt. The hunt for the perfect vintage graphic tee that is. Little did I know – there’s a whole pile of them sitting in the vintage loves section on our website – and they’re selling out fast!

Vintage tees have become a must-have wardrobe staple over the past few decades – taking on a role as the perfect throw on item since there are so many ways for them to be worn. They can look cool and relaxed, edgy and vintage, all at the same time. Throw one on with denim shorts for a casual look, or pair them with (vegan!) leather pantswedges, and loads of jewelry for a night out.  Now, just to decide which one I like best…..help me out?

Boutique Fashion from Jen’s Pirate Booty

Calling all “sandy” girls! We have an exquisite collection of pieces by Jen’s Pirate Booty on our website right now that scream summer and beach!  The timing is perfect as we just launched our Endless Summer shop and these pieces are the epitome of summer styles that can be worn and loved all year long.  In addition to being the perfect beach cover-ups, they can be styled in different ways to wear as casual weekend attire or even dressed up to wear out on the town.

Our buyer told me that she fell in love with the brand because of the soft, flowy fabrics and amazing silhouettes that are bohemian but in a modern way.  The pieces are undeniably summery, right down to the fabric they are made in – light and gauzy, or peek-a-boo patterns with sun-like shapes. Most pieces come in one or two sizes, with the idea that they will look different on each girl that wears them.

On that note- here are some of our home office ladies wearing Jen’s Pirate Booty in ways that could totally work beyond just the beach!

The perfect outfit for a casual summer day. Denim cutoffs and the janis crop top – the color of this one is amazing!

jens-pirate-booty2

The warrior robe looks awesome worn over top of a dress and would look just as cute over a bathing suit on the beach when you need to cover up!

jens-pirate-booty3

Our buyer loves the eclipse babydoll tunic because the silhouette is unexpected in this type of fabric.  It looks adorable styled with cowboy boots and a floppy hat!

jens-pirate-booty4

The poetic kaftan is my favorite – I love the dusty rose color and the fabric is so light and soft! It looks really cute with one of our floral bralettes peeking out from underneath.

jens-pirate-booty5

The treasure tank is super cool – it has two very long tails on either side that you can leave hanging or knot together to create different shapes.

Endless Summer Means Beach Wear All Year Round

who wants summer to end? I most definitely don’t. i love the easy breezy beach lifestyle too much.

so, when we decided to launch an endless summer shop i was very happy indeed. our new concept introduces a wardrobe that is season-less, relating to the beach lifestyle – easy items that can be layered and carried through from summer to early fall.

our new concept shop, “endless summer”, will carry swim, long sleeve textured shirts, cotton pullover sweaters and cardigans, denim jackets and shorts, knitted maxi dresses and lose, cozy items, which can be worn to the beach as a cover up, or can be worn all year long.

beach is a lifestyle the fp girls love, so we wanted to make it last, because if you’re like me, I also enjoy strolls on the beach when it’s a little chilly outside.

here’s a little ‘endless summer’ inspiration quote from our beach designer about season-less dressing ~

“When I first moved to Philadelphia in the fall, all I had for winter was my denim jacket, a hoodie and my chucks, because in San Francisco that’s all I needed to take me through the winter. I soon found out I needed a little bit more than that. I just recently learned the concept of seasonal dress, put away coats, and take out shorts.

These, I find are staple items, that can easily be layered up or pared down, I never have to put them away. The season-less items in my wardrobe include: my vintage crochet sweater, my 501 cut offs, my Cheap Monday white V-neck Tee, and my white cotton button up.

The design concept for Endless Summer would be clothes at its loveliest most basic level, nice feel, flattering going out or staying in, layered up or layered down.

Or simply

Clothes you never want to put away.”

We love endless summer! do you want summer to end?
