I have to admit, it took me a couple of weeks after coming to Free People to notice this week’s Style File. Once I did, it was like uncovering a hidden gem in the treasure chest. I find her style, with its amazing vintage finds and awesome array of prints, extremely inspiring. Read More

Style File: Retail Operations Coordinator
What I love about this week’s Style File is how natural and effortless she is. Her style is very laid back, and has a strong infusion of FP girl Lou (funny, Lou happens to be her pup’s name too). Her look is never over the top or flashy – just always put together and cute. She wears easy tees, and some fun statement pieces. It all comes together for a perfect “girl next door” kind of vibe. Style File: Assistant Designer – Beach
Have you ever looked at a girl and thought, “there’s someone who knows what fashion is?” This week’s Style File is one of those girls. She’s not scared of an Avant Garde print or dressing head-to-toe in monochromatic tomato red. Her styling is spot on, the way one images a top fashion editor being styled. Although she always looks relaxed and comfortable, you just know that she’s into fashion. The sweater she throws on is perfectly nubby, and oh, that insanely cool necklace she’s wearing? It’s the logo for her friends’ young fashion line that is blowing up in the UK right now. Her style is flawless with great attention to detail. Look close and you’ll see a dreamy braid hidden in her waves. This girl knows how to dress herself.

Style File: Assistant Graphic Designer
Our Assistant Graphic Designer is fairly new to the company. She came on the scene with a giant smile and quirky style. To my experience, she showed up in a meeting one day with bright points to contribute and a dress that was to die. Graphically, her designs feel fresh. Fashion-wise, she has a cool vintage look and sticks too it. It’s full of tough to replicate, one-of-a-kind items that always come together perfectly. In Free People terms – the Molly style with its own spin – of this tiny, beautiful, and full-of-light character are freshly inspirational. Read on and see what I mean… Read More
Style File: Assistant Buyer – Intimates
This week’s Style File always manages to look cute, but is never too fussy or over the top. Overall her looks have a simple beauty to them. There’s a definite Lou vibe coming through in the practical and cozy looks she gravitates towards. The look is usually centered around one knockout piece – a scarf, an awesome dress, or a pretty slip. She’ll then through the Lou vibe for a loop with some Candy thrown in there in either a feminine print or flirty lace and ruffles.

This week’s style file is our Associate Buyer for accessories, who traveled to the US from England to work at Free People. Her style is quirky and avant garde. It’s full of color and pattern – often with a theme like neon or turquoise. I love the risks she takes. There’s no fear, and nothing is too outrageous. It is, however, always inspiring.

Style File: Assistant Stylist
It was so fun photographing our Assistant Stylist for this week’s Style File. Her carefree spirit just communicates through photographs so well. Living up to her aura, she has some of the best boho pieces around. Getting up close, you notice all of details she piles on, and sneaks in there. There’s no such thing as less is more with her, but she makes it work. She’s a true modern day hippie – loaded with fringe, feathers, and bangles. There’s something about this girl that makes you feel peaceful and smiley.

Style File: Assistant Designer (Lou)
This week’s StyleFile is an effortless beauty who’s style has a laid back California beach vibe. I don’t know if it’s her long, wavy blonde locks, the colorful friendship bracelets, or the heart tattoo on her wrist that scream Cali, but it’s definitely there. She wears a lot of stellar grunge pieces – ripped and splattered jeans, a slouchy knit hat, baggy tees, and kicks. She’ll then mix it up with an awesome Native American inspired necklace or poncho. There’s no doubt, she looks like your quintessential American girl – active and full of life. Her vivacity can’t be restricted with pompous or tailored clothing – she has no time for that.
These jeans are perfectly slouchy and distressed. Get the look with a grungy graphic tee, hat, and Converses.
This photo makes me want Summer. And colorful bracelets…
She takes the formality out of a cable knit sweater with fringe layering
In this cold Winter weather, everyone needs a good throw on poncho to stay warm.
She loves her Native American accessories just as much as the rest of us at Free People. Some great variations are on our website right now here, here, and here.
Style File: Senior Graphic Designer
I’ve always thought that our Senior Graphic Designer has amazing style, but for some reason I was under the impression that she was one of those who aren’t a big fan of having their photo taken. I’ve since discovered that I was wrong, and so to make up for lack of showcasing this woman’s amazing style, I decided to feature her as this week’s Style File.
One great aspect to our Graphic Designer’s fashion is her keen eye for texture and pattern. She understands pieces, and how to show off their interesting features. For example, she’ll layer a fun color underneath to show off a top layer’s loose knit, or she’ll call attention to a bold, retro-inspired pattern by stacking it up with basics. Either way, she’s great at creating a balance so that her looks never look like too much.
I’m also a HUGE fan of this woman’s ring collection. She has a great assortment of chunky knuckle decoration full of cute animals and edgy cuts. She’s not afraid to pile on the rings, and will often pair them back to a sweet choker.
Equally as impressive, is her awesome shoe collection. She’s a big heel girl, and her shoes always have attitude. The good sturdy heel gives her look a nicely confident spin.
Overall, her wardrobe of fun pieces is gutsy and playful. It never gets boring seeing what this girl is going to wear to the office.

Style File: Design Assistant – Ginger
This week’s style file is no wuss. She’s decorated with tats, and sports a dark bob which give a toughness to any look she wears. The actual outfits she pulls together tend to lean on the girly side, creating a nice balance with the permanent edgyness. She loves tights and cute flared mini’s. She peppers in ditzy prints, lace, and feminine detailing. And then there are the shoes, she has a collection of stunners – your ordinary black ankle boot wedges, but with badass elements. Overall, she has a great mix of tough and sweet. Check out her week in style:
