sweet lou

there’s a new girl in the office, and i am in love.  meet louisiana, lou for short, the newest member of the fp pup family! she belongs to our retail operations coordinator and is a cairn terrier and australian shepherd mix.  her markings and colors are so unique she almost looks wild! but she is the softest and sweetest thing ever…she was so sleepy when i took these pictures.

why are you waking me?

wednes-diy

i made my first vintage loves purchase the other week and i was so happy when it arrived in its lovely little tie dye bag! i totally forgot about them! i adore the colors and i want to be able to use it as a tote bag this summer, so i decided i’d add a handle!

this is super easy. all you need is a needle and thread, and whatever you want to use for the handle. i used a fabric belt that was part of an old coat i don’t even have anymore, but for some reason i kept the belt.

i sewed the strap onto the inside of the bag, below the drawstring – i wanted to still be able to pull the bag closed with the drawstring.

and that’s it!

old san juan

a narrow island where blue water meets lush green fields, stone walls rise up out of the sea and cobblestone streets are lined with buildings the colors of sunset…here are some photos of our march catalog location, old san juan – the heart and soul of puerto rico.

martha on duty

martha hunt is one of our favorite models to work with – in our web studio and on catalog shoots, she consistently brings an amazing attitude and free spirited beauty. this past friday, our web studio did a special shoot with martha and had her style all her own outfits, as well as give makeup and hair direction. i got to watch and take some photos, and i must say… i have a little bit of a girl crush on martha!

she is so fun and full of personality, and the second she sets foot on set she is all business and works the camera like no other.  here’s a little behind the scenes look at martha ON duty, along with the final shots our photographer took of the five looks she styled.

in this look: runaway lace kaftan, IRO vova chain short, jade covered wedge.

spring display giveaway!

*UPDATE 3/14 – congrats to our winner, fariza from california!*

i love everything about our spring store displays, but my favorite part are the amazing fabric covered suitcases.  so i was very excited that our display team brought this beauty over to me for us to give away on the blog! can you imagine waiting for your luggage at baggage claim and seeing one of these come around on the conveyor belt?! talk about one of a kind!

underneath the fabric is a durable plastic suitcase, so these can be used although i’d recommend being gentle with it, due to the delicate nature of the hand-sewn fabric and embellishments.

to enter the giveaway, click here and fill out the simple form.  we will leave it open for a week and i’ll pick a winner at random on monday. good luck!

green pea alfredo pizza

i don’t want to overload you guys with the vegan recipes, but i found this one and i could not resist sharing it – it looks unbelievable.

this recipe is made with socca crust, but if you’re not into the vegan thing, this could easily be made with regular pizza crust.

socca crust:
3/4 cup chickpea flour
3/4 water
2 tbsp olive oil

pour into oiled cake pan. bake on 375 F for 40 minutes. set aside.

the next step is the couliflower based alfredo sauce – something i didn’t know about until just recently when my friend told me, but apparently tastes just as good as cheese-based alfredo!

cauliflower-almond garlic alfredo sauce:
1 cup steamed cauliflower
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp water
4 cloves garlic
1/3 cup soaked almonds
salt and pepper

blend until smooth and spread on crust.

top with green peas, green peppers and onions. drizzle additional sauce on top and a sprinkling of oregano and shredded basil. bake for 20 additional minutes or until topping are cooked through.
