as i told you last week, dan martensen was the photographer for our new february catalog. the photos were shot in california in two outdoor locations and in a studio. the first location was zuma beach, a large and popular beach in malibu, california that is known for its good surf. our producer took these pics while our team was shooting – i wish i was there now!
you can read more about the inspiration behind the catalog here - and stay tuned for more photos!
so many valentine’s day-themed events are going on this weekend! whether you like the holiday or not, there are a couple of things you can do in philly this weekend that sound pretty cool…
you may remember these murals from a post I did a while back…they’re part of a series called “a love letter for you,” which consists of over 50 murals by artist steve powers throughout philadelphia.
well there’s an exhibit opening tonight of sketches, found objects associated with the project, and personal works by the artist, taking place at 1226 chestnut st from 5:30 to 8:30. then tomorrow you can catch powers at exit skateshop in northern liberties between 5 and 7pm, signing copies of the “a love letter for you” book. there’s even a special “love train” event on valentine’s day, where you can take a tour of the murals on a privately chartered, slow-speed, guided el train. for more info click here.
this is something i’d like to do on any random day- this weekend you can go to hudson beach glass in philly and pull your own glass flower! they’re so pretty…and they’ll never die :) for more info click here.
you can’t escape it…love is in the air this weekend.
there’s a cool event taking place tonight at space 15 twenty in LA, the location of one of our newest free people stores. they’re having a special “valentine’s fantasy luv spectacular” with a pop-up shop and a performance by sister act pearl harbor. really mellowed out, warm and fuzzy pop – perfect music as you browse for last minute gifts for your sweetie…
My heart sank this morning when i logged on to The Guardian to check on the local news back home in England.
Alexander McQueen had Passed away, I couldn’t help but grieve.
He has been a maverick to the English Fashion Scene and an Iconic one at that. With a label such as “The Bad Boy” which came from his invention of the ‘Bumster’ in the 90′s. This Designer was out there to make a statement and that he managed to do every season.
Everyone warmed to him and his cheeky, daring attitude to Fashion.
I admired him for years and he was often an Inspiration to me when i was studying Fashion/Textile Design.
His Spring/Summer 2010 collection blew me away- It was Fashion/Art at its best!
