I like that this look isn't too over the top or risque. It shows that even more masculine clothes can look put together!

Post image for Book Club, Chapter 7: Making An Altar

“A home altar is a way to pay respect to our ancestors and the world around us. It reminds us that whatever we love is also within us.” Read more »

I love your altars, especially the live plants and candles. This chapter was another great one full of advice on how to create an altar in your home. I like the advice from Thich Nhat Hanh to add motivating or inspirational words to your altar; things that will stay with you easily throughout the day. Since I have many altars in my home already, I took this opportunity to make one in my cubicle at work. I think most of my coworkers think I'm a bit cuckoo but I love my work altar! It's a good reminder during the busy day to stop and breathe.

The irony is we are all looking at our screens typing our comments agreeing to the sentiments in the blog. Ever seen the film Wall-ee?

You could add a bit of cinnamon for a darker shade, tumeric for more of a glow etc etc!! Oh the possibilities... I'm sure you could work up a lip stain with some shea butter/bees wax and coconut oil/ olive oil etc. Can't wait to see a follow up!
karina -Mar 04, 2015, 9:58AM
i have been trying to develop a lip stain with powdered beets... such an amazing color! alas, beet powder is NOT oil soluble, it sinks to the bottom, does not color the cocoa butter+beeswax base, and looks like you have crumbs on your lips. :/ what i'm thinking is infusing the oil with the beet powder and then strain it, but i have not tried this method yet! good luck, and if you are successful, please share with us! xox karina
