i’m all about slips right now. they’re light and airy for summer and perfect for carrying over into fall and winter as layering pieces. i have my eye on a couple of these… which one is your favorite?
“we went back to morocco for 7 days to shoot the august catalog. we traveled from marrakesh to morocco’s “hollywood town” of ouarzazate and then 7 hours into the sahara desert from there. it was an amazing trip… we laughed a lot, slept under the most stunning stars, rode camels… i will never forget this adventure.”
this fuzzy muffin is roger, who’s adorable face was here to greet me when i walked in this morning. roger rarely graces us with his presence so i wanted to ask him some questions while i had the chance!

you all know by now that we’ve moved into a new building, and it’s very cool because our photo studio is now just right upstairs (as opposed to in a different building). today i went up and hung out for a little while to get some shots of the new space and our team at work.
love the hat :)
our senior stylist puts together a look for model meghan collison. she has appeared in numerous magazines and is absolutely gorgeous!
love at first sight. these will be mine.
our hair and makeup artist does a quick fishtail braid.
so i saw these friendship necklaces on honestly…wtf last week and i’ve been thinking about them ever since. they definitely bring back memories of grade school – although i actually still wear friendship bracelets that i made back in those days. what excited me about this was the idea of making lots of extra long necklaces to layer… and then i got to thinking… what if i tried it in my hair?
all you need to do this is some string – and if you want to make necklaces like the ones above, rope or hemp cord. if you don’t know how to make these, it’s incredibly simple and you can find an excellent tutorial right here.
during my lunch break i drove over to a.c. moore to pick up some string – so many colors to choose from!
i got some hemp cord too for when i make the necklaces.
these are the colors i’m going with for the hair wrap.
i took a small section of hair, wet it and twisted it up, and then just knotted the three strings around it – warning- it might not be easy to take out :)
now use your hair as if its the rope in the tutorial, and start wrapping! use one color at a time, holding the others in with the section of hair until you want to change them up.
the wanderlust festival is this weekend! three days of music and yoga in the gorgeous squaw valley, california …could it get any better than that? here’s a selection of items that i would bring:
a few of our fp girls attended the kings of leon concert at tinley park in chicago this past weekend and shared some photos for the blog! i love their outfits – i hope they didn’t have any incidents involving pigeons… :)
i mentioned grace potter & the nocturnals the other week because they were one of the acts performing at the XPN music festival – but today i wanted to dedicate a whole post to them. i think grace potter is one of those musicians that you need to see live to really appreciate. she can really rock. i think she’s probably the only female musician around right now who could do justice to jefferson airplane’s “white rabbit.” check it out:
our visual manager for our west coast stores sent along some great photos from her recent trip to our stores in texas. i always look forward to the photo albums she sends, she takes lovely photos!
soon to be the first free people austin baby! she will be a scorpio :)
fp jemma came in today wearing the cutest outfit – and the best part is she got it all for under $30 at the punk rock flea market in philly this weekend. here are the items she scored:
long smocked maxi dress $5, native indian feather necklace $1, heart bracelets $1, moon stone ring $5 and moccasins $15.
