canada here we come!

very exciting news! we just opened a new free people in toronto’s hudson bay flagship store – the first fp in canada!

free people officially launched its 1,000 sq. ft. hardshop on the much talked about contemporary floor, which houses brands such as opening ceremony, McQ, LnA, halston heritage, tucker, catherine malandrino, vena cava and doo ri.

reflective of our creative roots, this shop is truly one-of-a-kind.  it is a beautiful blend of modern and vintage, mixing the earthiness of our teak tables and cane globe lanterns, with linear designed wood and metal racks.  our fabulous team of artists worked their magic, painting columns and back walls with gorgeous green flora and fauna, creating that special free people experience that keeps our girl coming back for more!

canada is big country, so stay tuned for more exciting free people launches where hockey may be golden, but sparkles and crochet will always be the way to a girl’s heart.

xx

romper room

i really love rompers right now. i definitely want to get a couple and will probably live in them all summer! i was thinking about these special pieces and wondering about when they first came to be… thought i’d share the little history with you.

rompers first became popular in the 1950s as beach/lounge wear! as the trend caught on, designers dressed them up a little so they could also be worn in more formal occasions too.
now, they’re everything from cute, casual, dressy, beachy, and everything in between.

they’re just a great look – and another reason i cannot wait for spring :)

thursday poll – edition 84

how is everyone’s day going so far? ready for the thursday poll?

last week i asked about our rompers and we came extremely close to having a tie for the winner! the linen corset romper got 249 votes, and was just beat out by the we the free bookworm romper, which got 253 votes!

this week i’m really loving all the feather accessories we have in – they add such a natural, free-spirited touch to an outfit.  which do you like best?

the feather earrings:

the sienna earring:

the woodstock dangle earring:

fun with copying

we just got a new copy machine at the home office, and we had training today to learn how to use it – and one of our fp girls snapped these cute photos!

this is the instructor, alberto, who was very nice and very into copiers!

turn your dresser into a shelf!

yes it’s another dresser idea but i wanted to share this today too because i think its such a unique, cool idea.

if you happen to have a really old beat up dresser that you don’t use, take out the drawers and paint them a a bright color, line them with some cool wallpaper and turn it into a sweet-looking shelf!

i  think this would look awesome if you used some old vintage wallpaper like these…

so what do you guys think, would you try one of these ideas on your dresser?

wednes-diy

this is such an amazing idea – i saw it on design*sponge a while ago and i’ve always thought about doing it, except i don’t have a dresser like that :)  the flowers remind me so much of our one of a kind vintage flower necklace!

for their tutorial, they used some vintage brooches found on ebay, removed the backs and glued screws on.  check out the full tutorial here!

such a great way to give your dresser a little free people touch :)
