Post image for Homemade Refreshing Cucumber Aloe Mist for Face and Body

Post image for Shopable Street Style From LA

For this week’s shopable street style we’re showing you a casual, laid-back outfit from LA; a cool, layered outfit that’s great for temperature changes. We love how she has layered a sweater over a striped dress and then tied a shirt around her waist, in case it gets a little hotter and she needs a lighter layer instead. The outfit is simple yet made exciting by the number of layers — the ankle boots give it a nice little attitude, too. Read more »

Post image for Why We Love Springtime: Planting Heirloom Seeds

What I love about springtime the most is the transition — when you start to feel the weather getting a little warmer, when you see the first buds appear on the trees and then everything starts to glow and become bright. Things are given a new life. This spring I have decided to decorate my back porch and start to grow herbs and flowers, starting this weekend. I have been researching heirloom seeds and have purchased a couple of packets from The Happy Cat Farm right here in Philly.

Post image for Interview: IO Echo Talks Coachella & New Album

One of the best things about music festivals is always the new musical discoveries that you make. One of mine from SXSW was the California-based band IO Echo, which consists of Ioanna Gika and Leopold Ross.  Their music is dark and melodic, but also airy and light – a contradiction you don’t often find in music. I made one of these over the weekend using two wooden beads in place of ball caps and embroidery floss instead of colored cord. The floss just needs to be double stranded to make it thicker. I thought I'd mention this because I came home to find I only had brown leather cording, no caps and didn't feel like driving to the craft store.

Post image for Homemade Coconut Lavender Conditioner

After doing this post on homemade coconut milk shampoo, we had some requests for a conditioner to go along with it, so here you go! Read more »

Justine -May 16, 2013, 11:52PM
I just made this, and I have to say, I love it! I am a year round swimmer, and it is hard to keep my long hair soft and pretty. After using this conditioner my hair is like silk. Now I don't have to worry about killing my long blonde hair! And definitely don't use more than a small dollop, it is definitely enough.
Valerie -May 05, 2013, 5:38PM
I absolutely love the shampoo to this. I tried it for the first time today and I will admit that as my hair was drying it felt a little oily and after my hair dried, it's like my hair adsorbed the oil. It now looks super healthy and there's no fly aways- and my hair is super thick- and to top it off, nothing makes me feel better about myself than using natural products. On a side note, I ended up using a lavender scented castile soap instead of the regular and it smells amazing! On the conditioner, though I think I'm going to swap out the jojoba oil for shea butter! Can't wait (:
