Survival Kit
Some items I loved from the studio the other day while I was up there prowling.
I decided to pick out some items that will see me through Fall along with little things I cant live without right now.
It’s coming close to my second Winter in the USA and maaaaaaaaaaaaaan I’m going to prepare myself this time around!
This year is all about learning from last year’s mistakes – there’s no way I’m going to let the cold weather get the better of me this time!
I’m taking the layering trend on board making it pretty and edgy with these lingerie shorts and boots (these black buckle ones are super cool – I will be ordering them next week) to protect me from the wet wet wet weather.
The vintage brown satchels that were featured in the holiday book are perfect and the ideal size to carry my ipad around which has become my BFF! I have also had a little addiction lately for collecting vintage camera straps to jazz up my plain bags.
and now… the comfort zone that will keep me happy when the cold starts to bite – Hot Hot Hot chocolate all the time and the most tastiest thing ever, Sara Happ’s Lip Scrub in Red Velvet = YUM!
This is the beginning of my Fall Survival Kit.
magical mystery mansion
while shooting the belle of the ball section of our november book, our lucky team got to spend a week at eglingham hall in north umberland, england. i can see why tim walker used it as the location for his fantasy-like photo shoots, as it looks like a place with many stories to tell and secrets hiding in its walls. here’s a peek inside…
“100% good.”
the study
haunted house?
the backyard. wow.
tea for two.
this picture makes me laugh.
and in the backyard, the most amazing teepee ever.
thank you to our producer for these beautiful photos!
party and a pup
some photos from a little bday party for one of our fp girls :) we just got a new camera – it’s amazing! – and i got a little carried away taking pictures of the pretty flowers…
as for the amazing card our graphic designer made – it was inspired by the birthday girl’s pup ruby and her halloween costume :)
holiday book chapter two: treasures
“twinkling gems add a dusting of mysterious wonder to your outfit. hang with admiration on your wall like a cherished piece of artwork. exquisite pieces for gifts, and for your loved ones to treasure.”
chapter two focuses on gift items so special we consider them treasures… vintage chainmail evening bags, statement jewelry and delicate lace slips so beautiful you almost won’t want to wear them. The treasures were photographed in philadelphia by rene micheli.
i love this shot of the bags from our vintage loves collection too:

holiday catalog drops today!
this is our biggest book to date, and there’s so much t want to tell you about it, from the photographers to the models to the locations. starting with chapter one…
“the center of attention, she glistens in the night. she is a cinderella star in a beautiful dress. She’s the special one, the one with magic all around her.”
to achieve an atmosphere of holiday magic and fantasy, our team went to northumberland england and shot part of this section at eglingham hall – a location known for being the backdrop to many of tim walker’s magical shoots.
the location was perfect to capture the essence of a girl who awakes to find herself in a fairytale, the lines between reality and dreams are blurred. she dons a beautiful dress and dances off into the night like cinderella.
the photographer for the shoot at eglingham hall was benjamin huseby, who’s dreamy photography captured the spirit of the belle of the ball beautifully, as brought to life by models julia hafstrom and jessica mau.
the third model in this section, who also graces the cover, is the lovely zippora seven. she was shot wearing some of our gorgeous holiday dresses here at the home office in philly by our photographer anthony nocella. she’s done so many great shoots, but these two photos have always been among my favorites:
i have lots of photos of eglingham hall to show you so stay tuned :) and view the entire november catalog right here!
The bottom movement
Here at Free People, we know and love cords. It’s falls go-to fabric. This Autumn/winter we have styles to suit your “wear till they’re threadable” needs, as well as the chic tulip flare that you’ll turn to when you want to smarten up. These are the styles we’ll be wearing this autumn.”
First round modeled by one of our lovely girls working here at the home office: the flared cord which is perfect for Fall, and the shape is super sexy!
free people @ space 15 twenty
on our last day in cali we did some shopping in hollywood and stopped by the free people store at space 15 twenty. i was stoked to see the store because i’ve heard so much about space 15 twenty. it’s a cute little spot with a courtyard where they hold monthly flea markets and live music – there’s also an urban outfitters, an art gallery, and umami burger, which i didn’t try but is supposedly a must when in LA.
and i really can’t say enough how awesome the girls are who work in our stores. they are so warm and friendly and have amazing style – it was lovely meeting you ladies!

wee people is here!
wee people is now up online! it is so exciting to be able to see the whole collection after hearing about it for so long – and the little models are really too cute for words.
here is a collection featuring the favorite items of our managing director of design and image, who was inspired to create this line by her own daughter (who just so happens to be the model pictured above and in many of the wee people shots) :)

pups visit free people in nyc
this is too cute! one of our customers made this adorable video of her dogs visiting the free people store on 5th ave in NYC :)
i think their owner might need to get them a shag rug!
monday quote
“when i was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. when I went to school, they asked me what i wanted to be when i grew up. i wrote down ‘happy’. they told me i didn’t understand the assignment, and i told them they didn’t understand life.”
