another fp girl saw this idea on my breakfast blog and i thought it was so cool! i love antique picture frames and i really love the idea of using them to frame magazine tears and pretty images. i want to go get a bunch of frames and arrange them randomly on my wall. done.

i wanted to bring some special attention to this lovely little decorative touch from our september catalog shoot. these little floral arrangements decorated the tables where our team hung out during breaks from shooting – using jam jars! i think it’s such a sweet little touch, and a great way to re-use the jars too.
bandeau with a twist
this is such a fun idea! our santa barbara store had a really cool event over the weekend where customers who purchased a bandeau had the opportunity to tie-dye the bandeau in-store! i love how this bandeau looks! this is such a great way to spice up a plain white bra.
yarn bombing
the folks behind all the yarn bombing do some crazy awesome stuff.

DIY inspiration
some DIY inspiration… i saw this on cosmic dust and was just totally blown away by how beautiful it looks. a couple of weeks back i showed you how to make your own dreamcatcher…and here’s a great way to put one to use! use it to hang your earrings :)
by the way that’s a pretty sick earring collection.

i saw this DIY and it immediately reminded me of free people- fabric covered hangers! i have a bunch of plain old wire hangers in my closet and i think they are in need of a makeover. all you need is fabric – this would be a great way to reuse old free people bags! – and glue.
start by taping the starting point of the fabric to the hanger, and then proceed to wrap the fabric around the hanger. when you have covered the hanger, put a dab of glue on the end of the fabric and you’re done!
office space
back in the section of our new building where our visual display team sits, there is a door that is usually partially open, but i’ve never gone in. that is, until the other day… when i slipped in and realized it was their new workspace. this is where you’re likely to find upcoming store displays that they are working on as well as furniture, fabric and boxes of trinkets that i could dig through for ours. what i would give to be able to decorate my apartment using this stuff…
tie dye is my bag
how cool are these tie dye bags? we are using these as packaging for the vintage loves collection and i think they are so beautiful – plus they were made with love by some of our fp girls right here at the home office.
the ingredients:
dye in shades of fuchsia, orange, yellow, purple, turquoise and green!
bags of various sizes and lots of rubber bands!
various tying techniques…
time to dye!
they let the bags sit overnight so the dye sets in.
next step – rinsing!
hang me out to dry…
and… ta da!
i love it! i have a plain white free people bag that i think needs to be tie dye :)
wednes-diy: mason jar chandelier
some DIY inspiration from wanderlust- a jar lantern chandelier! so beautiful. i did some hunting online and found some similar ideas that are so lovely…
i really love the idea of putting some sand in the bottom and dropping in a tea candle. i think that would be the perfect outdoor lighting at my family’s beach house.

hot hair tip!
so last month we made a little video showing you how to do a fishtail braid – and this month we have a kickass way to spice up your fishtail braid! our stylists and hair/makeup artist are loving this look right now – colorful streaks woven into the braid!
Now this can be done many ways- you can do one color or three, you can actually dye streaks in your hair, or you can put in colored extensions.
for the braid in these images our hair/makeup artist used extensions. she mixed blond, blue, purple and pink extensions together and spread them out before braiding them into a fishtail, which she then clipped into the model’s hair. simple enough, right?
here it is on a larger scale in our august catalog:
i love it and i am definitely going to try it!
