good morning! hope you all had a very happy thanksgiving! due to the holiday we missed the thursday poll so let’s do it now shall we…

how cute is this image our creative team did? they had the thermals pinned up on a wall in the office :)

in addition to our standard thermals we have some other really cute layering tops that would be so cozy on a dreary day like today in philly. which of these is your favorite?

the long sleeve sweater and lace turtleneck:

the ladder rungs sweater:

i can’t believe thanksgiving is the day after tomorrow… not quite sure where this year went. this time last year, i asked people around the office what they were thankful for. i was thinking about it today and this year i am definitely most thankful for the people in my life – the new ones who have made their way into my heart and the old ones that will never leave.

what are you most thankful for this year?

the “wild streak” display wall – our visual display girls made this from different yarns, fabric strips, trims, and tinsel that they fingerbraided (crochet) miscellaneous pieces of to make long braids. they also bought some plastic animals, spray painted them silver, hot glued some glitter and yarn on them and hung them into the mix. there are about 100 braids in this display stapled into the ceiling. amazing!

woah... after all that ...I just wanted to state i have been a longtime FP lover. I STILL OWN AND WEAR my first FP dress from 13- 15 years ago! (Someday i'll photo it and send it) .It's timeless, as i have found most FP clothing to be, or at least the pieces i have chosen. An example:the WTF Lace up Henley is like a favorite top i wore in high school.I do not think i have thrown out or given away any of my FP sweaters, tops, dresses, etc. that i have, and i can think of only once or twice having to mend anything, and it was because my daughter who is bigger than me was wearing my clothing. Yes, she became a FP lover also at an early age, with tanks, sweaters, tights, jackets too. 15 years wear is definite quality, not flimsy. I certainly cannot come near buying everything i want, but i also don't have time to actually sew everything unique that i would like. FP is as close as i can get to actual handmade without the work, cost, search time. Thank you FP for the discount, it comes in handy. P.S. love Urban and Anthro too, there is no age on clothing- i exposed my daughter and her friend to them as well at least 10 years ago...

Post image for wednes-diy

for today’s DIY i want to show you guys how to make snowflake panels like the ones in our new store displays! it’s actually really not as difficult as it looks, it just requires a lot of patience and good cutting skills :)

snowflake-panel

image via design sponge.

these panels immediately reminded me of a DIY i saw a while ago on design sponge – the only difference being the material.  our team actually made ours out of paper first, and then had them laser cut out of felt.

IMG_0748

what you need: paper or felt or whatever material you want to use (this is a great way to re-use old scrap paper or junk mail!), scissors, and glue or tape!

start by making as many paper snowflakes as you desire, in varying sizes, patterns and shapes – because no two snowflakes are alike ;) if you’ve never made a paper snowflake before, check out this tutorial.

IMG_0760

IMG_0764

IMG_0768

IMG_0770

IMG_0776

once you have a bunch of snowflakes, start gluing them together where they overlap, alternating shapes and sizes as you please.

IMG_0779

IMG_0780

IMG_0781

i’m going to keep adding to mine over the next few weeks!

for best results, hang your panel in front of a window and enjoy the patterns the sun leaves on the floor :)

Tasha -Nov 29, 2011, 2:39PM
I love this so much. Where can I get mine laser cut into felt?
Caroline -Aug 27, 2011, 5:52AM
What I would like to know looking at these images is how did you cover the seats. As we have the same ones but in brown (fake) leather and I would love to put a nice fabric on mine.
