Post image for What To Eat Before You Run: A Guide

For a long time, one of the most mystifying things about running to me — and exercise in general — didn’t even involve the action itself, it had to do with what you’re required to do before and after (and sometimes during) a workout. Read more »

I also like to try different food items all the time. From my experience, we have to eat a lot in the morning. Lot in sense protein wise. Protein is the key element which keeps us running all the time. Eating fresh food in the morning is also a good thing.

Love the recipes! You have really great ideas. I normally just take some fruits and put them in the bag - really quick breakfast preparation :) - and then eat them on my way to work or when I'm already in the office. If I have more time then I cook something evenig before - like rice pudding or protein pancakes. Breakfast is for me also very important. I just enjoy Long breakfasts on sunday Mornings :) xoxo

Post image for Gnocchi di Zucca Recipe

In Italy, the food grows plentifully. On a recent trip to a Tuscan villa, we found ourselves surrounded with figs, olives, cantaloupe, oranges, and herbs for the taking. Giant acorn squash grew in a patch on the terraced hillside next to our home; we were able to pick one and incorporate it into many meals. One of my personal favorites evolved into an evening long procession of gnocchi. Read more »

I just made this recipe and it is pretty wonderful. If you are looking for it to be just like Starbucks' version, then this isn't for you. This is a nice, less sweet, true latte. I added some raw agave nectar for a touch of sweetness though, instead of sugar. I love this healthy version, yay! Thank you.

Yum. I love pineapple (and a lot of other fruit) spiked with a similar concoction called taijin. (In the southwest and mexico, it's common to eat fruit, cucumbers, and other vegetables with the stuff- it's really just a blend of chili powder, dehydrated lime juice, and salt).
Maïa -Sep 02, 2014, 9:56AM

Maria - I'm so glad you enjoyed the recipe and that everyone liked the outcome! These are so versatile, you can really throw whatever you have lying around in them and they'll always be good. I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind for future posts, I always love an easy recipe :)
Maria -Sep 07, 2014, 7:47PM
Thank you SO MUCH for this recipe. I work in a shelter for migrants and all of the food we get is donated, so we don't have the more expensive or exotic ingredients that are often listed in recipes on this site. Moreover, the cooking we have here is often really greasy and unhealthy, because that's what a tight budget can afford! Thanks for providing something delicious AND cheap -- I made them for the house and everyone loved them! Please post more recipes like this!
